Western Toad Studies
I am pleased to now be able to offer my Western Toad paintings as limited edition prints! The originals are acrylic on wood, and I painted them as possible designs for the 10foot by 25foot mural I created for the downtown of Nakusp B.C. in 2021. They are printed on heavy watercolor paper, and have a beautiful rich color. Each print is an edition of 50.
I am pleased to present my recent western toad watercolors. The western toad is a local species that has it habitat and breeding area around Nakusp B.C., and every year in the summer people visit Summit Lake and help the toad-lets cross the road. It is a fascinating experience for both kids and adults. I got interested in these creatures when a local photographer friend shared some of her toad photos with me, and I was very intrigued with the skin and the eyes. I love to find subject matter for my artworks that is normally overlooked, and bring attention to what I find beautiful and interesting about it. I decided to paint these little creatures in the way I believe they see themselves, dignified and wise, comfortable in their close relationship with Mother Nature, and their association with the power of transformation and magic.
